Public imagination is always exploited by the media when it comes to ciminal justice in New Zealand. High profile crimes
in this country are somewhat rare, meaning public suspects are given the maximum scrutiny, and rarely, if ever, is the whole
story told duing the investigative process, the trial, or the aftermath. Only those people interested in finding out the true
story are willing to undertake the task of poring through all available case details to make slightly more informed conclusions.
To this end, several high profile cases have developed dubious outcomes, spurned countless books, websites, second opinions
and much controversy. It sickens me to hear uninformed people rave on about how guilty a suspect is "because I saw him on
tv and he looks like a nutcase, and his family say he's a psycho" etc, etc. I do not wish to portray that certain suspects
convicted of said offences are innocent, nor try to entertain the possibility that our justice system is corrupt. I simply
wish to educate people who might consider twice, the information provided about high profile crimes in this country as reported
through the media. I also wish to develop further a theory which I am working on, concerning the way major cases are handled
in the New Zealand justice system. This project will take some time, and as a result, this web site will be pretty much under
constant construction, and new material will be added on a regular basis.
